You get what you pay for + a bit more.
First the good: Print quality is FANTASTIC! For a printer of this type and this cheap I have been truly impressed with the print quality & resolution. Also the filaments seem to stay put fairly easily and its not TOO Loud, its not quiet either but I don't mind it. You can also print directly from the SD card, no need to hook it up to a PC. Now the not so good: Lots of loose screws, you need to tighten all the screws before you start and this may be hard, especially the ones holding in the electroncis as you can't get to them easily. There is no plastic covering the view ports, so depending on what heat setting you have your plate at you may have to add some cover so that the the filament will stay stuck. I covered mine with some cardboard and its working fine now. Now for the Bad: The instructions are all in Chineese, It comes with some crappy software but there is no English version to set it up with. You're going to have to go online and search for an English hack of the old Makerbot software. This is a Makerbot Clone, so the Makerware works perfectly with this machine. You have to save your files as .x3 to get them to print off the SD Card. All of the preloaded prints are also in Chineese so figuring out what they are is fun.... My advice is to go online and watch the YouTube videos other people have put up explaining how to set-up and operate the machine. Having said all that it is STILL worth the price. You're not going to get a machine of this size that prints this high a resolution for this price anywhere else. But don't expect it to be a right out of the box deal, take a little tinkering.Read full review

With much fiddling it is becoming a good product.
To be fair, I purchased this product with mediocre expectations. This was a starter printer that I had fully expected to have issues. In that sense, it's been a great learning tool. However, it doesn't "just work". That's not exactly a bad thing. Just saying that there is a difference between this printer and a $1,500 printer. If you're expecting a decent printer for a low price and are willing to tinker to make it a good printer...then this is a great buy. If you're expecting perfect out of the box results, this printer won't be ideal.

Worth it. Nearly a Replicator 2 without the glass.
Well, almost everything was great. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because of the poor instructions. They were in .doc file but my 2013 MS word wouldn't open them, so I uploaded them to a conversion program online and output a .docx. The instructions were missing what I should do with the Painters Tape on the Heated Bed, I left it, which seemed to work. Next I noticed that almost everyone of the screws needed to be tightened about 1 to 2 turns, which really was pretty easy considering almost every screw was accessible. Putting on the print head was more difficult than it needed to be. I had to disassemble the fan and heatsink to get to the set screw and adjust the left nozzle height to match the right nozzle, again not really a problem considering I should know how to take this thing apart. Finally I tried to use the software that comes with the program, but the install was Chineese, so I downloaded Makerbot Software App from makebots website for free. I setup the printer as a Replicator 2, which happens to be nearly the same dimensions. After all that, I loaded a few .x3d files to the provided flash drive and Printed my first part. Oddly enough, I actually printed the dinosaur skull shown in the picture. First Print 90% perfect, of couse there was some required temperature, Speed and Feed tweeks I needed to make, but all in all I was happy. Thanks! I would have preferred a Blue or Black PLA, because the green is pretty ugly.Read full review

3d Printing Beauty
This product was better than everyone expected it to be. Typically I buy off brand intentionally to save thousands and this was the best purchase thus far. I have made a quadcopter, a dual colored earth, traffic cones, multiple phone cases and a ton of upgrade parts for the printer itself!! (The list goes on) Go to thingiverse (google it can't post link) to see what it is capable of. You can print anything that fits on the bed. Once setup properly dual colors are simply amazing. Do a search for CTC for upgrade parts. I have printed in all sizes .100,.200,.300 and .400 and in between with PLA, ABS and wood filament. PLA is super easy and extremely stable(start here). ABS takes a bit of work and wood filament is in between. Either way it is an excellent product and gets 5 stars because of quality, price and ease of use. If I could justify it I would buy another one just because I would like to print twice as much! (My wife won't let me) My setup at the start was rubbing a small amount of an Elmers glue stick on the print bed and printing PLA. Now I do the same but placed a glass plate on the print bed and use glue for PLA/ Wood filament and an ABS slurry (desolved ABS pieces in acetone mix) when printing ABS. Using this setup I never worry about bad prints and have had roughly a 90%+ rate of success. A little learning curve at the start but so worth it. More of a kit, than a ready to go 3d printer.
Received printer. Every fastener was very loose and missing several fasteners although there were plenty of extra so not a big deal. SD card with software was corrupt and anti virus software flagged it as containing trojan also not a big deal, obtained software from website. Dual print heads horribly misaligned. Print bed displays 20 degs higher than actual temp measured with non contact thermometer, due to incorrect thermistor used in design. Cooling fans very noisy. Once setup, print quality is actually very good, but after one week long prints would fail at random intervals. This was due to faulty 360w 24v power supply which was overheating due to bad fan. Replaced power supply and printer appears to be functioning well again. Windows 10 will not allow unsigned drivers to install without starting in special mode Not for the faint of heart or technical newbie. However I am happy with the print quality and believe that for the price it is still a good value. Also very good as a learning project as you will be working on this printer to keep it functional.Read full review
